ABOUT INTERSTELLAR
INTERSTELLAR is an independent production company founded by David Williams and Jamie Ormerod. Together they create and craft eye catching TV, social first and ad funded content out of London and Glasgow. With a proven track record of taking original formats and third party IP from topline to series, Interstellar specialise in comedy, entertainment and reality television for the UK and beyond and work with brands such as Instagram, Lucozade and Co op.
They’re in it for two reasons - to make great TV with the best talent and to have a stellar time doing it.
TEAM
David established his prolific career during a golden period of entertainment and reality programming and has spear-headed many of the shows that have driven the UK’s “water cooler moments” of the past 23 years such as Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother, Dragons’ Den, Stars in Their Eyes and You’ve Been Framed. He’s given 10 people a million pounds to give away on Unanimous and in Space Cadets convinced a group of people that they were in space, rather than in Ipswich.
Before founding Interstellar, David was the Creative Director of BBC Entertainment North, and has produced and executive produced at indies including Fox Television Studios UK, Endemol and ITV Studios. David also spent six years in commissioning at Channel 4 as a Commissioning Editor in both the Entertainment and Factual Entertainment teams and as the Editor of E4, where he commissioned shows including Made In Chelsea, Playing It Straight, and Tool Academy.
Over a twenty-year career in linear and digital content Jamie has developed and produced some of the best shows you probably don’t remember, and one or two of the ones you do.
Prior to co-founding Interstellar, Jamie held senior creative roles at the BBC (Executive Producer for Comedy Entertainment), Remarkable (Head of Development), Tuesday’s Child (Executive Producer), Keshet UK (Director of Development) and Endemol Shine (Creative Director). He is a co-creator of the hit ITV quizzes Tenable and Golden Balls and the creator of multiple Saturday night studio entertainment shows including Jim Henson’s Puppet Gameshow and The Hit List for BBC1.
Through Interstellar Jamie and David have redeveloped third party formats for the UK including Singletown for ITV2, Show Me The Honey for CBBC and Battle In The Box for U&Dave. He’s also created brand new shows like All Star Dance Off for ITVX, Richard Ayoade’s Question Team and a soon to be announced project with James Acaster.
Alongside linear projects for traditional broadcasters, Jamie is passionate about digital first content and using his experience in mainstream entertainment to help brands (like Lucozade, Co-Op and Instagram) create unique shows that reach new audiences.
With a production career stretching over 24 years, Sheryl started her TV career as a Meeter Greeter on The Big Breakfast, where memories of that time span from the low of having to don a giant egg costume and have her face painted yellow, to the highs of making breakfast for the Wu Tang Clan and looking after the Zig and Zag band performances.
Joining Princess Productions in 2001 after a stint at Talkback she stayed for 19 years, assisting with the growth of the company as it expanded to have its own live studios and post-production facilities, and working on a diverse range of programmes from RI:SE, Orange Unsigned Act to The Friday Night Project, The Big Art Project, Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew and The Mash Report.
Sheryl enjoys working across both Interstellar and sister company Tuesday’s Child and the opportunity this affords to work on such an innovative and varied breadth of content with a great team of people.
